This may sound easy to solve, but for a non-pro it isn't It's like this, in 3rd strike I often play against a guy that are slightly better than me. We play pretty equal though, and sometimes I win But now to my problem, and it's the cheapest char in the game. It's remy (well .. Chun-Li is cheap too, but they don't get cheaper than remy ... Oh, forgot Gill, but he's not counting, cause he's .... Just too good for the game) with his rings and #/#(#&)# flashkicks wich keeps annoying me. I've tried many different characters, for example Akuma, Ryu, Ken and many others. But I don't come near before he does his flashkick and there I am. Don't tell me to parry the flashkick, because I ain't that good, it requires a bit more skill. Our matches when he's Remy looks like: He's standing in one of the corners an throws rings at me ... In this way he gets down my health a bit before I do a jump in (gotta get over those #&##&#(/ cheap rings) and he uses hs flashkick to keep me back. How do I do to beat this cheap tactic of his ? It's kinda boring playing against such a cheap bastard. And yes, if I really gotta parry the flashkick, then say it .... Training gives skill i guess .... Regards LynX aka Viktor Söderqvist Posted by SilverGear on 06:18:2001 12:06 AM: Simple. Remy Cheap? Hahahaha...Okay okay I'm sorry...anyways... The answer to your solution is to not only learn how to Parry his Flash Kick but learn how to Parry his Rings. Simple as that. Once you get that out of the way there goes like 50% of his "cheapness". Good luck. Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 12:14 AM: Phew Well ... Gotta go training parrying Who do you think is the most effective character if I learn to parry his flashkick and his rings .... And what do I do if he uses the double rings ? Jumps, parries and make him feel the pain ? Well .. Thanks anyway ... Posted by SilverGear on 06:18:2001 12:17 AM: Hmmm... Hmm...Well who do you use? If you have just started playing this game I suggest you use Ryu. Once you learn to Parry everything you'll Take out Remy with no problem. As for Double Rings...well once you learn how to Parry regular Rings the next step is to learn how to parry the Double Rings...then after that it's time to learn how to parry the rings super! It's really easy once you ge the hang of it. Don't lose faith and just practice hard. You'll get it down eventually. Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 12:31 AM: heh Embarrasing enough, I've been playing 3rd strike for quite a while now, and before that it was Alpha3 (Gouki 0wnz ) Gouki is the best character in my oppinion, even though he does a litte less damage compared to the others in the game. The cheap hadouken-in-air wich I use alot (good players parry it, but it still works for me ... Gotta time it to when he's just to you ... Then you do it real quick ... Hard to parry) In Alpha3 i really like Evil Ryu best ... I dunno, but perhaps because it's impossible getting away a hadouken-in-air on those PS controls Well ... Open up for now ... Oh okay no prob then. Gouki is an excellent choice if you ask me. Just Keep on the pressure and learn to parry and you'll be set. I may also suggest to talk to Shin Srwilson he's a great Gouki players from the sounds of it. Again good luck. Later. Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 12:44 AM: :) I promise I will come back and tell you how it's going and surely ask for more help in the hard fight against cheapness ;D Yes ? Isn't Gouki a pretty good choise ? When I come near I maybe can use lk. hurricane kick and combine it with messatsu gou shoryu ? My friend got in that combo, and actually, it looked pretty cool ... Well ... There I'll be able to provide you some more detailed help if you want. And Short > Messatsu Gou Shoryu or even a Fierce Upper-Cut work fine. If you need any help with the pressure game let me know. Posted by mixup on 06:18:2001 01:13 AM: In any match-up where you know what your opponent can do and you know how to parry it, that eliminates nearly all *cheese* tactics that they could try. Try to learn the timing of the parry on the move and make him pay for the flash kicks with a super or 2 in 1 or a fierce. when you hit him enough after counter attacking him, he'll stop flash kicking so much and then the real fight begins. Learning to parry imo is the most important thing to know in the game, you really understand a match-up better when you can parry everything that your enemy can do. Posted by DaSloth on 06:18:2001 03:57 AM: Remy looks like a gayboy, who even kisses guys EWWWW Posted by DarkCharlie2002 on 06:18:2001 04:33 AM: OK..I used to have that same prob..PLaying against remy but i learned his strategy.. Thats the first thing i got down ...Then i got the parrying down because remy has too many connection with the flash kick super if u use akuma u can destroy him..My strategy i do is once the match starts i dash twice grab... Back up to watch out from flahkick.jump in with a hadouken then do a f,d,df,hk.. then mk,then another jumping kick....then u grab and back up ...he is gonna throw a ring so u parryy all og them to get him frustrated...also try and wait for him to do the flash kick super if u catch him coming down after the flashkick super do his power geyser looking super its a killer....if u wondering how to do it it is down, down, two punh buttons....this my strategy against the remy player i play he's smart.. I think all u need to get down is the parrying...and a nice strategy...my strategy is above...i usually get everyone frustrated with my grabbing and dashing skils i ahave some parrying skills i have yet to master it though....try to master everyones super i did it two a couple weeks...anyway jus tell me if this strategy works maybe i can give u a few more connections if u still getting beat on Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 05:23 AM: Thanks Thanks everyone, your help is very kind and I'll try to learn myself how to parry the flashkick (wich sure isn't a easy task) so that I can make him feel the pain You can't imagine how I'm gonna enjoy watching his body tear apart from my messatsu gou shoryu:s Well, thanks alot again and wish me good luck. I'll throw you a mail SilverGear, trust me Posted by Akumamigo on 06:18:2001 11:40 AM: I will help you That idiot used the same tactic aganst me in Älta2! Söderqvist, it´s quite simple.Remy plays alot like Sagat with his fucking rings(he´s a cheap bastard..I haven´t seen Remys scheudle before we strated the tourney, and I lost bigtime.). Jump over the rings or parry them. The last jump in you got to stand away from the flaskick, and land with a direct blcok. He will use the flaskick, then it´s kinda easy for you to dragon punch he´s but, or even better shoryureppa or shinryukenna it I have got to train a little for myself to Älta 3, hope I see you there(I´m counting on you! Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 01:09 PM: Jepps Of course I'll be there, and by then, I will parry all his cheap trix with Remy ... He'll FEEL the pain inside him when my Akumas fists tears Remys body apart ... A hint: As the ULTIMATE let down, I will use Raging Demon to finish the bastard ... Look for it in Älta3 GL m8 //Soder Posted by Shinma_sama on 06:18:2001 01:43 PM: I paly a guy at my arcade thats pretty well with remmy too. Like the said learn to parry the rings. Parrying the flash kick can be hard at times so if you cant do it keep it on the ground. Use Ryu: Try this parry the rings to get close. once relatively close use the mp mk, if hes blocking low to get him off gaurd. do this a couple of time til he catches on. Once he finds out that the mp and mk will go over most low attachs he should then try to use the flash kick. When you fake him out let him have it with a shoryuken XX to a denjin hadouken. After the XX dont let go of the P button in stead wait half a sec the rotate the joystick as fast as you can we he stands up hit him with it. Then do any combo of your choice. I suggest HP XX HP shoryuken or the low mk to Joudan Sokutou Geri. I hate people that just sit back and lay on the projectiles. I do not consider it cheap though the way I look at it is if I dont have the skill to get around shit like that then I need more practise. Its my mission in life to seek them out and humiliate them, I especially enjoy it if they have there chic with them. Posted by DeadlyRaveNeo on 06:18:2001 01:57 PM: parry the rings then dash, or block then dash, I'm guessing since you said you have a background in A3, you don't abuse the dash (since there is no dash in A3) if you are using Oro for example who is small enough to dash under light of virtue then you can Rush remy's ass down. Turtle tactics in SF3 are really fucking BS, its boring to see, it looks like a scrub match, Though turtle characters like Oro, Urien and Remy in 3rd Strike are annoying, if you rush to them they can't react fast enough. Don't bother trying to parry everything, if you see that you can't parry reliably all the time, just substitute it with something, y'know. When they do a flash kick as you are jumping in they are pretty much fucked coz it leaves them so open after a parry. BTW. Toronto SF 3rd Strike had videos of matches featuring different characters (yes including twelve) which are updated everyonce in a while, the videos are taken down and replaced with new ones, there were some Remy videos there, I'm sure a lot of ppl would be more than glad to hook you up here, so you can see Remy's ass get whooped. hehe http://www.2ndsightconsulting.com/3rdstrike Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 02:46 PM: well thanks for all the tips guys ... nice playing DeadlyRaveNeo ! Got impressed Posted by shin srwilson on 06:18:2001 05:26 PM: If this Remy player uses SA II then you could get a Raging Demon pretty easily if you time it right you can grab Remy with the RD during his Super Art II as his feet touch the ground but timing is important i like to get Rmey players with this little tactic hehe! Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 06:14 PM: shin wilson >> you can ??? wow, then I will do that instead Posted by shin srwilson on 06:18:2001 06:18 PM: Its all about timing just time the RD so it grabs the mili second Remys feet touch the ground after the second flip if timed right there is nothing they can do and they will be grabbed and its goodnight nurse hehehe! Posted by EVIL5150 on 06:18:2001 07:32 PM: uhhh... if parrying the rings or flashkick aint your cup of tea maybe you should play a game that's more your speed. But if you were desperate there are numerous moves that will counter "cheap" fireballs. Sean's flip kick, Ibuki's head kicks, Oro's headstomps, Necro's leaping overhead. Of course these all require you to e at the appropriate range and anticipate your opponent's attack. But that's what all really good fighting games are about isn't it, anticipation. You can also throw lots of EX fireballs with a fireballing character, and if you feel confident you can throw superfireballs. My personal favorite is Makoto's kick super. Also the only really "Cheap" thing I know of that Remy can do is that fireball cancelled into super flashkicks combo, that pisses me off. Oh, and Remy likes to pee on little boys. Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 08:22 PM: Why don't say it loud and clear: Remy is SO gay, and everybody knows it, so they who play him gotta be gay too ;P And yes, he pees on small children. Posted by shin srwilson on 06:18:2001 10:54 PM: And how do you know that???????lol! Posted by LynX on 06:18:2001 11:02 PM: Answer :) Hmm .. Double answer ... 1. Yes I know, they are (who else plays with characters who pee on small childrens ? ) 2. It was a fast conclusion, so it MAY be false All times are GMT. The time now is 10:20 PM.
